Abstract

The experiment was carried out at Banana plantation Sungai Long, Lata Janggut, Jeli and laboratory University Malaysia Kelantan. The objective of this experiment is study effect of mites on 0. longicollis adult life and the potential of mites as biological control to 0. longicollis. Besides that, this research also to study resistant of 0.1ongicollis toward fipronil and malathion. The sampling was done by using physical method for catching 0. longicollis. The O. longicollis with mites was separated after sampling to observe the behaviour of 0. longicollis with and without mites. According to the result, the highest percentages of mites 30% attached on specific part of 0. longicollis body are legs, so it will limit movement and activity of 0. longicollis. Monthly frequency of O. longicollis on Oct 2012, Nov 2012, Dec 2012, Jan 2013, Feb 2013, and Mac 2013 were 63,19,34,31,27 and 21, respectively. There were significant differences of activeness between 0. longicollis with mites and without mites (p<0.05). Abundance of mites on 0. longicollis can control the activity of O. longicollis and limit it's movement. For toxicity test, direct toxicity on 0. longicollis was not resistant to fipronil and malathion.
