Abstract

The study was conducted over one year to assess and document an aroid as ornamental plants in Machang and Kota Bharu districts Kelantan. Detailed information about all the species found in Machang and Kota Bharu is listed along with a clear picture. The study also involves assessing the market price of the aroids and in terms of market potential. Two methods used to collect information. They are through research \ask journals and the second method is through a questionnaire that comes out with the individual background and information on aroids in terms of price, species of avoids and other information related to the potential aroids as ornamental aroids. Preliminary studies conducted had proved that there were 51 species of aroids that are not commercialized yet. The market price of aroids is also cheap and affordable. Aroids actually have the potential as ornamental plants same as orchids because public is interested and aware of the uniqueness of aroids. Based on information from this preliminary study is expected to assist in introducing aroids in more scientific method.
