Abstract

Entrepreneurial intention is a primary step to create new venture in the entrepreneurial process. The motivational factors are important to strengthen or weaken intention of prospective entrepreneur among the undergraduate students in Malaysia. This paper is aims to investigate the motivational factors conducive to the intention to be an entrepreneur among the Malaysia’s undergraduate students. The four motivational factors are: personality traits, entrepreneurship course, government policies and family background. Term of entrepreneurial intention is normally associated with individuals who tend to be entrepreneurs and they have a motivation to start a new venture in the future. Researcher conducted survey with 100 undergraduate students from Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) and the questionnaires were distributed to them. Researcher employed Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC) analysis to analyze the survey results. The results showed that all the motivational factors have a significant relationship with entrepreneurial intention. In conclusion, entrepreneurial intention among undergraduate students in UMK was influenced by the four motivational factors.
