Abstract

Guppy is an ornamental fish type. Value for this type of fish is measured by the attractiveness of its physical features posses by the male. Guppy seed are able to undergoing sex-reversal to produce male population. Hence, it increases the profit of the breeders. The process of masculinization usually use synthetic hormone. Yet, the usage of this chemical is costly. In addition, people nowadays are more concern towards natural product. So, a set of experiment to screen the efficacy of mangosteen leaf in producing all male guppy, fish fry was conducted. Toxicity test of mangosteen leaf is set for guppy's fish fry after done the toxicity test. In this experiment, the concentration of mangosteen leaf extract used is 1563 mg/L. Three replication of control and three replication of treatment were carried out. As a result, the mangosteen leaf is able to produce male guppy seed. However not all guppy seed produced were male. There is 90% male guppy seed were produced by using the mangosteen leaf. In the other hand, control of guppy seed produce 40% male.
