The term of weedy rice generally includes all the species of genus Oryza which behave as rice weeds. Weedy rice can reduce farmers' incomes both quantitatively through yield reduction and qualitatively through lower commodity values at harvest. Three different variants of weedy rice named as V₁, V₂, V₃ were collected from rice field of Perlis, Peninsular Malaysia. This experiment was conducted in net house of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Jeli, Malaysia from March to June 2012. Growth pattern for plant height, number of tillers, leaf area and dry matter per plant was observed in 4 different harvesting times. Plant height, number of tillers, leaf area and dry matter/plant was increase linearly with the increase of times. From the experiment we it is clear that V₂ and V₃ have superior characteristic as weedy rice among the three variants. V₂ has highest mean value for plant height and dry matter accumulation while V₃ has highest mean value for number of tillers and leaf area. These variants have the ability to complete with commercial rice varieties for resources such as nutrients, water, space and light as it can affect the production of yield of commercial rice varieties at the harvesting stage.
