Abstract

Supplement addition into substrate is one of the major factors affecting the yield and quality of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus sajor_caju). According to the treatment used, there is four treatment with different particles size of rice bran supplement that would be added into sawdust; 0.25 µm > x > 0.18 µm, 0.18 µm > x > 0.10 µm, 010 µm and 0.006 µm - 0.008 µm were evaluated for mushroom growth and productivity of Pleurotus sp. Un-supplemented sawdust was used as a control because it is able to differentiate the importance of supplement or additives usage. The experiment was carried out in a room with temperature monitored for 26.5 °C to 27.8 °C along light catchment of 1200 lux/day and laid out in a randomized complete design with each treatment replicated four times. Bags containing the pasteurized substrades were spawned at a rate of 8% of w/w. During the duration of incubation times, there is observation on viability of complete mycelium running from the top to the bottom. The fastest time taken for mycelium running was taken by control treatment.
