Abstract

Syed Thajudeen is one of the popular visual artist in Malaysia. Syed Thajudeen has been successful in achieved universal appeal in his artworks by combined together symbols and motifs in Malaysia with aesthetic and metaphysical elements of Indian's arts. The problem statements of this research are in recent times,the influence of Indian mythology artwork are rare to be created by our young artist. Second, the understanding of the Indian Mythology become less among new generation and must have understandable way to express the Indian Mythology to the audience and new generation. Objectives for this research are to identify the main influence of Syed Thajudeen signature style in historical story of notable work masterpiece “Ramayana” (1972). Second is analyse the how Syed Thajudeen express the Ramayana epic on canvas. Third is to express the Ramayana historical story by sculpture and installation art.This research focus on aesthetic criticism which is an area of philosophy concerned with art and beauty.The theory has been used in this research is Art Appreciation by Harry Samuel Broudy which is divided in three steps;historical,re-creative and judicial.In this research the other focus is on second part which is result and discussion where includes the art criticism of Syed Thajudeen and researcher's work progress of researcher artworks.
