In this paper, the shoreline and land use changes that occur in coastal area of Makassar throughout l7 years which is 2000-2017 was identified by using satellite data such as Landsat 7 and 8. The images then processed by using ArcGIS 10.5 software to analyse the shoreline changes includes patter and total area changed in hectares that occurred through the duration. Among the factors that change their physical of pattern are erosion, reclamation and sedimentation. The analysis shows that the most common shoreline changes caused by reclamation or in other words, the expansion of coastal area or the addition of sand to support development and for the population growth. Currently, west coastal of Makassar (Tanjung Bunga) mainly used as tourism place and more land needed to make better facilities. An analysis by the remote sensing application to monitor the shoreline changes history is essential for the future coastal planning. Shoreline and land use changes can affect the local community life. Natural and man-made coastal features are experiencing changes include natural habitats, coastal settlements and local economies.
