Abstract

This research is focused about general geology and geoheritage potential of Kampung Tanah Puteh, Gua Musang, Kelantan. A large scale mapping of 25 km’ is carried out at the study area. The objective of this research is to produce geological map in the scale of 1: 25000 and to identify geoheritage potential of the study area. Methodologies used in this research is geological and geoheritage mapping, geomorphology observation, lithology studies and structural geology. Geodiversity resources can be classified by heritage value such as educational or research value, aesthetic value, recreational value, economic value, functional value, cultural value and economic value. Geoheritage value is associated with geodiversity. The assessment of heritage value in the study area is done based on heritage parameter. Evaluation of geoheritage is used to identify the potential of geoheritage resources in the study area. The study area have potential as the area have significant of geological diversity such as rock, landscape, landfonn, geological processes, and other geological resources. The landscape or the exposed rock can be a parameter to heritage value of a geosite. Based on evaluation, the research area is determined as local significance. Further research need to be done to acknowledge the research area as geoheritage site.
