Abstract

Excessive use of agriculture chemicals had been affected to the groundwater since the runoff occurred; rendering it is no suitable for consumption by living organisms. Photocatalytic degradation is one of the Advanced Oxidation Processes undergo the complete degradation process of toxic organic contaminants in wastewater with the presence of a catalyst. These processes are depend on generate of hydroxyl radicals (‘OH). Therefore, the study on the photodegradation of metamifop using TiO; /A1203/CNT nanocomposite was carried out. For this study, there are some conditions which are in the absence or presence of photocatalyst (10 mg and Z0 mg) and addition of oxygen loading ( ZL/min ) towards photocatalytic degradation of metamifop (5 ppm and 10 ppm) in an absence or presence of UV lamp irradiation. The photocatalytic degradation process was conducted under UV lamp irradiation in the laminar flow chamber for 3 hours continuously stirred the metamifop solution using magnetic plate together with magnetic stirrer. To investigate the degradation efficiency, the absorbance value of metamifop solution was analyzed using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. The highest efficiency of degradation in 5 ppm of metamifop was obtained at 95.26 % in the presence of UV irradiation, 20 mg TiO2/AIZO; /CNT photocatalyst and oxygen loading. As the amount of photocatalyst increases, the higher the percentage degradation of metamifop. Hence, through this study the presence of of photocatalyst and oxygen loading has been proved to enhance the photocatalytic degradation of metamifop.
