Abstract

The ceramics can be divided into two types which are the traditional ceramics and advanced ceramics. Nowadays, the applications in advanced ceramics are more used compared to the traditional ceramics such as used in resistors and capacitors. Based on this research, the pure of calcium copper titanate were be doped with strontium carbonate. The ceramics will be prepared by the solid-state reactions. The raw materials of pure calcium copper titanate are prepared by using the analytical powders of titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate and copper (II) oxide. For strontium addition CCTO, strontium was added with mol percentage ratio of 0%, 1%, 3%, 5% and 10 %. After the milling process, the mixtures are dried in fume cupboard and were calcined at 900°C for 12 hours in crucible and then are cooled. Next, the calcined powder pressed into pellets of 10 mm diameter and 4 mm thickness at the pressure of 300 MPa by using the hand press machine for shaping. Then, the pellets were sintered at 1040°C for 10 hours and then were cooled naturally in the room temperature. The samples were examined by using the X-ray diffractions (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Based on the result, the 5% of strontium addition CCTO sample give the lowest dielectric constant value compared with other samples.
