Abstract

The research title is Geology and Lithostratigraphy of Kapasiti Harapan, Lojing, Kelantan. This research covered 25 km2 of the study area and it is lies between latitude 4°47’N to 4°50’N and the longitude 101°43’19’’E to 101°46’3’’ E. The objectives of the research to produce geological map in scale 1:25 000, to study the lithostratigraphy of the study area and lastly to determine the depositional environment by study the facies analysis. The six component of the methodologies are divided into preliminary studies, field study, laboratory work, data processing, data analysis and report writing. The geological map is produces by using ArcGIS software while the Corel Draw software used to construct the lithological log. The lithology that found in the study area consists of chert, limestone, clastic sediment dominantly by mudstone and conglomerate breccia. The oldest rock is chert which is in age of Early Triassic while the youngest rock is conglomerate breccia in the age of Cretaceous. From the structural geology observation, it showed that the study area consists of fold and joint. As a result, three lithological logs was constructed in three different locations. Shelf or platform is the environment where shale is deposited while mudstone deposited in tidal flat environment.
