Life cycle assessment (LCA) of plastic bag production

The main focus of this study is to established a research of plastic bag through the utilization of life cycle assessment (LCA) method. The measurement were made for the standard plastic bag, in order to calculate the environmental impacts of plastic bag manufacturing. This study is based on literature review of special characteristics of life cycle assessment and its methods and methodologies, measurements and comparisons of harmfulness of plastic bags. The FTIR analysis and software OpenLCA was chosen in order to accomplished the study purpose. The result of the study show that the plastic bags produced by the local industries are less environmentally friendly. Their production process has a bigger impact on environment and human health. Furthermore, some recommendations for possible improvement were made based on the result of the study.
