Abstract

This final year project will be focusing on making paper from the waste of banana, sugar cane and ginger. Transforming the unwanted waste into a beneficial paper is one of the best methods in utilising the plant 100%. There are three treatments to be studied which are banana, ginger, and sugarcane while the parameters to be evaluated are the strength, dryness, and flammability of papers. However, this study only applies the traditional method in papermaking, where the pulp will be created by using the kitchen blender
(Elvidge,2018). The quality of papers is highly affected by the presence of cellulose fibres, which is the main component in order to allow the paper to hold together. Thus, this study will determine the difference of the strength of papers from the different plant (banana, sugar cane and ginger).
