Abstract

A study of species diversity of mammals by using camera trap was conducted at Gua Setir, Jeli, Kelantan. The main objective of this study is for computing of diversity indices of the mammals which include richness, abundance and evenness of wildlife at Gua Setir. 5 camera traps were used to capture the photographs of mammals at Gua Setir. A total of 6 individuals that were detected in 2 point which abundant in point 3 because of the necessary needed such as food and water is enough and wildlife captured on camera were higher than other point. The factors that cause the species richness in the point 3 are relationship between area and species and climate and the topography features. From the Shannon diversity index, it shows that the maximum diversity index for the mammals at Gua Setir, Kelantan was 3.932 and the Species evenness was 0.423. Further and advanced study is needed for this study research to obtain more data on the species diversity of mammals.
