Antifoaming agent is a chemical substance that have unique properties on reducing or preventing foam formation. Silicone effectiveness is so high that it is usually only requires extremely low concentrations of active material to achieve the desired results. One of the silicone based is Polyorganosiloxanes which is polymeric that contain Si-O-Si bond of the same nature as in silicates. This study formulates the antifoaming agent silicon based polymer with few modification treatments to enhance the antifoaming efficiency to prevent the formation of foam. Two sample of organosiloxane polymer were used in this study which are Polyorganosiloxanes (PDMS) and Hexamethyldisiloxine (HMDSO) as an antifoam will be testing with different concentration of surfactant degreaser using the several method testing which are handshaking (bartsch method), automatic stirrer, automatic blender and gas bubbling. All the method use follows the standard procedure of American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). Due to inefficiency of silicone oil (PDMS, HDMSO) to stand alone as an effective antifoam, thus the further modification is carried out in order to formulate efficient antifoam All the modified antifoam is testing with surfactant to know its efficiency and ability to remove foam. The very efficient antifoam was further analysed using Fourier-transform Infrared (FTIR) and moisture content using halogen moisture analyser. All the modified able to disrupt and prevent the formation of foam in all different concentration of surfactant. This research hopes to contribute to the development of scientific knowledge of antifoaming agent for industrial surfactant and create an economy potential in the industry.
