Abstract

Cars are a vehicles that is important to everyone as a transportation. A car is one of the product produced from automotive industry. The great car is the car that made from the material that able to stand the force that come from the accident. All of the elements in car body is important, but in this study it elaborate more on car door since car door is one of the most important element in the car body structure and the function is to protect the passengers in the car. The objectives of this study is to analyse the properties of the laminated carbon fibre with aluminium car door using Finite Element Analysis (FEA), to compare the properties of the laminated carbon fibre with aluminium car door with different materials of car door, and lastly to simulate the impact test on the laminated carbon fibre and aluminium car door using SolidWorks® software. To provide the car with safety properties, the improvement of a car door must be done. The purpose of this research is to study the properties of the innovation material which is laminated carbon fibre with aluminium car door. This test have been done by using simulation in SolidWorks® software. The test produced the stress and displacement analysis. Besides, the results obtained from the simulation of laminated carbon fibre with aluminium car door will be compared with three other materials which are steel, aluminium, and carbon fibre. From the comparison, the most suitable material for the car door was laminated carbon fibre with aluminium.
