Abstract

Kuala Selangor Nature Park (KSNP) is a vital wetland ecosystem that requires consistent monitoring to evaluate and sustain its forest health. This study employed remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques to assess vegetation dynamics and land use changes within KSNP between 2020 and 2024. Landsat 8 and 9 imagery were processed using ArcGIS to generate the Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), which was classified into three vegetation health categories: non-vegetation, moderate vegetation, and dense vegetation. Results revealed a substantial improvement in forest health, with dense vegetation increasing markedly from 7.00% (0.25 km2) in 2020 to 57.00% (2.04 km2) in 2024.
