Abstract

Land use refers to land changes made by humans because land resources give benefit to humans but have a negative impact to the ecosystem. Water resources refer to resources that benefit living things, in fact every living thing needs water resources to survive. Therefore, when the water source is affected, it will disrupt the natural cycle, just as a dirty water source will harm human health. Kota Bharu, Kelantan has now started rapid development especially in the opening of new areas for settlement, business premises, transport and building construction. This is because, it happens that high demand by humans has caused rapid development to occur. However, rapid development is now having a negative impact on natural resources such as affecting water quality in every settlement area drainage system. Therefore, this study was conducted to i) identify the type of land use in Kota Bharu, Kelantan ii) analyze the quality of water in Kota Bharu, Kelantan iii) relationship between land use on water quality in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. In this study, there is an image map that shows land use areas that are close to water sources. With users of the Geographical Information System in obtaining the area and the percentage of the land area. Next, water samples were taken as many as 24 bottles in 24 land use areas consisting of construction areas, agriculture, settlements and also green plants. With the difference in land use this also shows the water quality condition. Next, the use of Pearson Correlation Coefficient is used to correlate the results of land use percentage and also the results of water quality. This can be debated because it shows that the highest area indicates the settlement area that is exposed to pollution while the green plant area also is possibility problem of pollution. Finally, based on the explanation above, it shows that humans needs taking care of natural resources is crucial, even when people ask for new land to be opened. However, in this world there are also other living things that need to continue to live on this earth. Therefore, humans play an important role in conserving natural resources so as not to affect the quality of nature.
