Abstract

More people are demanding the halal food products around the world include Southeast Asia. At the beginning, halal food is produced specifically only for Muslim, however, today halal food is consumed world widely by all people regardless of their religions and ethnic backgrounds. Market size of the halal food is developing years by years in Malaysia. Thus, the main purpose of conducted this study is to investigate the antecedents that influence consumer purchase intention on halal food products. Research on the theory-driven research on halal food purchasing is still insufficient especially on halal issues. Therefore, this research explored on halal issues which are religion, halal awareness and halal certification as the antecedent that influence consumer purchase intention on the halal food product in order to broaden the research regarding this topic and to educate the consumer on halal issues halal issues antecedents. The questionnaires are distributed through online and face to face to the respondents that lived in Kelantan. The researcher successfully collected 209 filled questionnaires. The research found that all the antecedents (Religion, halal awareness and halal certification) have the significant relationship with consumer purchase intention of halal food products. The strongest antecedent that influences consumer purchase intention is the halal certification. This research has contributed to the study about the halal issues towards consumer purchase intention. Previously, there is only a few research on halal issues; thus, this study can be a reference to the future researcher to explore more on halal issues influence the consumer purchase intention.
