The construction industry is” dynamic “in nature due to the increasing uncertainties in technology, budgets, and development processes. Nowadays, building projects are becoming much more complex and difficult. The paper seeks to identify the significant factors contributing delay in building construction projects in Sarawak. Detailed survey was used to carry out the study. The study finds that “improper planning” are the main factor and poor project management are the second most important factor causing delay in construction projects in Sarawak. The results were analyzed to rank the causes of delay and further classify the types of delay. The scope of this study is limited to building projects under implementation of JKR Sarawak. The data for this study was gathered through a “detailed survey. Based on the analysis of data obtained through the qualitative method, this paper suggests possible improvements that could be made to reduce delays in the construction industry.
