Abstract

The Epic of Hang Tuah is a translation of the Malay great work Hikayat Hang Tuah originally edited by Kassim Ahmad and published by the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Written between 1641 and 1739, this epic reflects the aspirations, ability, attitudes, culture and manner of the Malay people who were respected and acknowledged by foreigners long before the Portuguese invasion of Malacca. It was Hang Tuah who said, "The Malays will never vanish from this world."
